Why Micro Weddings Are Still a Smart (and Beautiful) Choice in 2025

A few years ago, micro weddings were a solution. Remember COVID? How can we forget right?
Now? They’re a choice.
And not just a practical one—a beautiful, intentional one.

Couples aren’t scaling back because they have to.
They’re choosing to slow down, focus in, and celebrate in a way that feels deeply personal and meaningful.

If you’ve been hearing the term but aren’t quite sure if it’s still relevant in 2025 (or even what it really means), let’s talk about it.

What exactly is a micro wedding?

  • A wedding with 50 guests or fewer

  • A slower pace, more connection, and less noise

  • Space to prioritize the moments and people that matter most

It’s not about cutting corners. It’s about tuning into what feels right for you.

Why micro weddings are trending (again) in 2025:

1. They're More Personal

You get to spend quality time with each guest, truly connecting, not just a quick wave.
Every conversation, every toast, every hug—more real, more connected.

2. They Make Financial Sense

In today’s economy, a smaller guest list can mean better use of your budget.
Couples are opting to spend intentionally: on experiences, not headcount.
Think: a private chef, stunning florals, or a boutique venue that wouldn’t work for 150+ guests.

3. Venue Flexibility

You can say your vows anywhere that feels meaningful.
Backyards, beaches, cozy restaurants, and family homes.

When my husband and I got married, we had our micro wedding at a family member’s property. Our ceremony was on the garden, intimate and meaningful.
Dinner was on the driveway, lined with pine trees and strung with twinkly lights. It was simple, relaxed, and truly special.

4. Less Stress, More Meaning

Smaller weddings often come with less pressure and more presence.
You're not juggling dozens of logistics or managing a crowd.
You’re in the moment. You’re with your people. You’re celebrating.

5. They Reflect You

Micro weddings aren’t about following a script.
They’re about writing your own.

  • Want to skip the first dance? Totally fine.

  • Want a picnic instead of plated dinner? Let’s make it gorgeous.

  • Want just your immediate family and best friends there? Perfect.

Real Wedding Inspiration: Jon & Carrie

One of my favorite weddings I’ve planned was Jon & Carrie’s micro wedding.
It was intimate, heartfelt, and focused on the people and moments that mattered most to them.
